History

Prevailing Hope  was envisioned in 2024 by two families whose children thrived through the Spellers method, a communication and education approach for non-speakers. Motivated by their own experiences, they sought to extend this opportunity to others, ensuring that all non-speaking individuals could access the same transformative educational experience. What began as a small homeschool co-op soon evolved into a broader mission to provide comprehensive, individualized education for non-speakers locally and eventually nationwide through an online platform. Recognizing the financial challenges associated with creating such a specialized program, these families are in the process of creating a 501(c)(3) nonprofit to raise funds to directly help families with expenses, making this vital education accessible to more students.

All students start on a letterboard, but many can graduate to keyboard based systems as they progress in the program.

Future Plans

PHA is currently grades 3-12. Next school year we hope to open a kindergarten and K-2 program. In the future PHA. hopes to offer an online curriculum and hybrid program to out-of-town students and other students who are unable to attend brick and mortar schools. We also plan to offer adult educational and training services. We plan to become a CDC+ provider to help families of adult spellers with obtain these services. A final vision is to offer a summer camp program to students who may be in other educational settings, but would like to work on their academics and spelling over the summer.
